Mountain Bike Instructor Level 1 Course
3-DAY BEGINNER–INTERMEDIATE INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION
The Level 1 course prepares both new and experienced instructors to confidently teach and guide beginner to intermediate mountain bikers in both cross country and downhill environments. New instructors gain essential tools to teach safely and effectively, while experienced instructors deepen their knowledge of teaching methods and riding theory.
A strong focus is placed on developing teaching skills as a core part of being a professional instructor. Through guided practice and feedback, you’ll learn that being a good rider is just one part of the job.
Each day includes time for learning theory, practicing skills, and receiving personal feedback. Additional PMBIA Workshops on bike fit, mechanics, and first aid are also included to further build your knowledge.

PMBIA Level 2 - 3 Air Course
Intermediate & Advanced Instructor
The AIR Instructor course is designed for PMBIA instructors looking to elevate their skills as part of the PMBIA Level 2 and 3 Certification Pathways. This fun and inspiring course trains instructors to teach intermediate to advanced riders using skills-based teaching methods for descending, cornering, steeps, and technical terrain.
The Maneuver-Based component focuses on safely introducing students to tabletop jumps and drops.
The AIR course focuses on the following common intermediate to advanced student goals:
Cornering, descending and pumping with more confidence, consistency, and speed
Riding steeps with greater speed control and technical terrain with more flow and efficiency

PMBIA Level 2 - 3 Tech Course
Intermediate & Advanced Instructor
This course advances PMBIA instructors through practical, skill-based teaching focused on steeps, corners, climbing, and technical maneuvers. Emphasis is placed on delivering safe, skill-progressive lessons using PMBIA’s proven templates and methodology. Maneuver-based instruction introduces bunnyhops, manuals, wheelies, nose pivots, and small natural drops.
Climbing, pedaling efficiency, and control on steeps
Confident, consistent cornering, pumping, and descending
Technical maneuver instruction: bunnyhops, wheelies, manuals, nose pivots, drops
The course typically runs in cross-country trail networks. Instructors will develop five core skill sets: People Skills, Guiding Skills, Teaching Skills, Riding Skills, and Instructor Traits, while receiving daily feedback and mentorship from a PMBIA Trainer.

PMBIA Air Module
Level 1 instructor development air course
This two-day module offers focused, professional training for instructors seeking to refine their technical riding and teaching skills. Candidates will receive access to the PMBIA Reference Guide, AIR Module Booklet, and engage in hands-on coaching and feedback sessions.
Day 1 focuses on skill-based lessons and practice teaching topics like bermed and flat corners, steeps, rock rolls, and pumping. Instructors will explore the AIR Instructor Course content, including skill blending and lesson structure (what/why/how/when/how much).
Day 2 shifts to maneuver-based teaching, with practice lessons introducing intermediate riders to jumps and drops. Additional workshops cover suspension setup, goal setting, and review of the completed AIR Module Worksheet.
This module also serves as a valuable opportunity to calibrate your current teaching and riding performance against Level 2 and 3 standards, helping guide your development toward future certification.

PMBIA Kids Module
Level 1 instructor for training youth course
The 1-day Kids Module is a professional training module to further the skills and knowledge of PMBIA instructors.
The 1-day module is packed with value as instructors learn a multitude of tools to develop their teaching, including but not limited to; how to adapt their lessons for children of different age groups, kids-specific bike and equipment set up, risk management and concussion protocols, more strategies for guiding children safely on technical terrain, as well as explore techniques to help manage the behaviour and expectations of children.
While the Kids Module is a great way for Level 1 Instructors to learn more about teaching kids mountain bike programs, it also introduces some new teaching concepts, acting as great preparation for the Level 2 and 3 certifications.
The Kids Module also provides access to the latest PMBIA Reference Guide, Kids Module Booklet (complete with course-specific content), and the Kids Module Worksheet.
